Mission

The Mission of this project is to change the current fishing industry in Haiti by creating fishing coops and a boat building industry that will help to stabilize and establish change that will affect Haiti's economy for generations to come.
Fishing for Solutions is a demonstration of a sustainable economic program aimed at creating vocational and educational opportunities to further advance the Haitians ability to build boats for fishing in deeper waters to support its industry as a whole.  What lacks is the ability to go into deeper waters and their industry is not very well organized so whatever is brought in is minuscule to feed small communities, let alone the entire population.
Refrigeration of such large catches of fish to keep it fresher and make it last longer will also be an area of concern.  With what is brought in daily, the fish will more than likely be consumed by days end, so keeping it on ice will help it stay fresh and not fishy.
Cleaning the fish nets after each days/weeks catch will also be an integral part of this project.  The byproducts that remain after the nets are cleaned could be sent to a facility to be composted and turned into fertilizer for the agriculture industry to provide nutrients for the crops that are grown there at the site and elsewhere in Haiti.
